Labor announces $14.7 million in health care career grants

The Department of Labor has announced $14.7 million in health care career grants authorized by the health reform law. The four grantees are the American Association of Community Colleges, Goodwill Industries International, the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services and SER-Jobs for Progress National Inc. “The grants will support projects designed to provide health care training and virtual service-delivery models (i.e., web-based services) to promote career opportunities in the health care sector,” says a Department press release.

Federal agencies hold 2nd meeting of Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program and Employer Sponsored Coverage Coordination Working Group

The Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services announce the second meeting of the Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, and Employer Sponsored Coverage Working Group to be held June 14, 2010.

HHS and DOL release fact sheet on coverage for young adults

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor have released a fact sheet summarizing the regulations from their departments and the Department of Treasury implementing the health reform law’s requirement that insurers offering coverage to children through a parents’ policy make coverage available until children reach age 26. The fact sheet also contains a list of insurers that have agreed to implement this new coverage before the deadline of September 23, 2010.
