Nancy Lopez, J.D., M.P.H.
Nancy Lopez is a senior research scientist and professorial lecturer in the Department of Health Policy at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
Ms. Lopez specializes in legal and policy matters related to Medicaid, private health insurance, health reform implementation, and health care fraud. Her research has been used to produce analyses and papers regarding Medicaid financing for comprehensive integrated service systems for children and adults with mental illness; development of Medicaid and Medicare special managed systems of care for people with serious disabilities; Section II F of Final Rule regarding Medicare non payment of hospital errors; Medicare Coverage Determination; case law interpreting “efficiency” clauses within Medicaid; legal analysis of case law of intermediate sanctions under Medicaid; and reimbursement policies of state Medicaid programs for obesity treatment or prevention. She is also part of the research team under the STOP Obesity Alliance project. Prior to joining SPHHS, she practiced law in a bankruptcy firm where she specialized in litigation for debtors and creditors.
